Some parents think that negotiating with their children erodes their authority as parents. In Family Centered Parenting, we attempt to teach parents how to negotiate win-win solutions to issues with their children. When children participate in rule setting their input they are more likely to follow those rules. Also, negotiation increases critical thinking and verbal skills.
